Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index grew strongly on August 6 as investors’ regained confidence, combing shares heavily despite selling pressure.
Shares of 303 companies and six mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange jumped 1.18 percent, or 4.95 points, to close at 423.16 points.
Among the index members, 206 soared, 60 fell, while 43 stocks remained unchanged.
Trading on the city bourse improved by 85 percent in volume, and by 73 percent in value over the previous trading session as more than 44.56 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND661.71 billion.
Ocean Group Joint Stock Company (OGC) was the most active share in volume with 3.53 million shares changing hands.
Sacom Development & Investment Corporation (SAM) followed with 3.42 million shares.
Tan Tao Investment Industrial Joint Stock Company (ITA) came in third with 2.09 million shares traded.
Southern Rubber Industry Joint Stock Company (CSM) and Sacombank Securities Joint Stock Company (SBS) both climbed 5 percent to close at VND27,300, and VND4,200 respectively.
Da Nang Rubber Joint Stock Company (DRC) augmented 4.96 percent to close at VND27,500.
Nam Viet Corporation (ANV) intensified 4.94 percent to close at VND8,500.
Thu Duc Water Supply Joint Stock Company (TDW) drained 5 percent to close at VND19,000.
Dong Hai Joint Stock Company of Ben Tre (DHC) stemmed 4.92 percent to close at VND5,800.
Hoang Huy Investment Services Joint Stock Company (HHS) snapped its six-day winning run, giving up 4.87 percent to close at VND37,100.
The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – sprang 5.59 points, or 1.12 percent, to end at 502.97. Among its 30 members, 22 stocks rallied, 4 weakened, and 4 remained unmoved.
Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north rocketed 2.23 percent, or 1.54 points, to close at 70.45 points with 199 winners, 50 losers, and 40 stocks treading water. Around 48.55 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND696.49 billion.
HNX 30 Index - the price index of top 30 stocks calculated based on free float adjusted market capitalization – escalated 3.63 percent, or 4.73 points, to finish at 134.96 points.
Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares leaped forward 0.43 percent, or 0.16 points, to close at 37.33 points. A total of 271,735 shares changed hands at VND1.69 billion.
