Lai Huong Thao, from the northern province of Quang Ninh won the title of ‘Miss Sport 2012’ at a contest that ended at the Ba Na Hill Resort in the central coastal city of Da Nang on August 5.
The 21-year-old beauty queen received a cash prize of VND550 million (US$26,000) and will represent Vietnam in the Miss Supranational 2012 later this month in Poland.
The first and second runners-up were Duong Thi Ha Giang from Ha Giang Province and Giang Thi Chuong from Son La Province.
The organizers also awarded titles in other categories including ‘Miss Talent’ to Vu Thuy Linh, ‘Miss Friendly’ to Luu Thi Van Phung, ‘Miss Perfect Skin’ to Nguyen Ngoc Lan Huong, ‘Miss Perfect Body’ to Nguyen Thi Thu Hang, ‘Loveable Face’ to Vu Ngoc Hoang Oanh, ‘Miss Community’ to Nguyen Thuc Uyen and ‘Miss Favorite’ to Le Nguyen Minh Hang.
The final round of ‘Miss Sport 2012’ attracted 35 beauties who showed their talents by performing sports related exercises such as aerobics, martial arts, belly dancing, yoga and silk dances and competed in the final rounds of evening gown, swimsuit, sportswear, and took part in a Q&A session.
Launched in 1993, the beauty contest has returned after a five-year break.
