Jazz Concert to lure audiences in Hanoi, HCMC

The Concert aims to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Japan during Japan-Vietnam Friendship Year 2013.

The Unit Asia Band comprises of five musicians from Asia, Japan, Thailand and Malaysia, including guitarist Isao ‘SANKICHI’ Miyoshi, bassist Shigeki Ippon, and drummer Tomo’o Tsuruya from Japan, saxophonist Koh Mr. Saxman from Thailand and pianist Tay Cher Siang of Malaysia.

The group music style is jazz. They can also incorporate diverse musical elements such as rock, pop, blues and so forth into their music, enabling them to create their own original sound.

Formed in October 2008, the band has made many tours around the globe. Their first tour in Vietnam was in February 2012 which was received with enthusiastic applause with participation of Tung Duong.

Talented Vietnamese pop singer Tung Duong was chosen as Singer of the Year 2011 and won the Cong Hien (Dedication) Award in 2012. Music lovers are impressed with his emotional and strong voice that skillfully interplays with sounds that enrich musical diversity as a whole.

The show will take place at Youth Theater in Hanoi and at Ben Thanh Theater in HCMC.

The performance is being co-organized by the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam, and the Japanese Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City.
