A concert featuring Jazz Manouche and Vietnamese romantic songs will take place at L'Espace French Cultural Center in Hanoi on March 11.

Music lovers will have a chance to discover similarities between melodies of Jazz Manouche (a ‘gypsy’ style of Jazz which appeared in France and used guitar as the main instrument) and pre-war Vietnamese romantic songs, such as Du am (Echoes of Memories) by composer Nguyen Van Ty, Gui gio cho may ngan bay (Send the wind to the flying clouds) by Doan Chuan-Tu Linh, Chieu tim (Violet evening) by Dan Tho, Bay gio thang may roi hoi em ? (What month is it now, sweetheart?) by Tu Cong Phung and more.

The improvisation of jazz tunes will be mixed with the reinterpretation of Vietnamese lyrical songs by the best guitarists of Vietnam such as Doan Viet Dung, Luong Xuan Thinh, Phan Kien and drummer Ha Dinh Huy.
