Hundreds find employment in job fair

More than 728 workers have already been recruited by enterprises in a job fair in Ho Chi Minh City this month, which has drawn as many as 2,237 job seekers.

More than 728 workers have already been recruited by enterprises in a job fair in Ho Chi Minh City this month, which has drawn as many as 2,237 job seekers. 

Sixteen enterprises are directly recruiting labor and thirty-two enterprises are recruiting labor from websites www.vieclamvietnam.gov.vn and www.vieclamhcm.net, with a recruitment target of 3,540 laborers.

Most enterprises are focused on technology, services, management, office and unskilled laborers.

In related news, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Labor, Invalid and Social Affairs said that the sixth Chinese Job Fair will be held at the District 5 Culture Centre on June 12 entitled “Lucky Sunday”.

The Cho Lon Economic Development Centre, Ho Chi Minh City Manpower Demand Forecasting and Labour Market Information Centre and Ho Chi Minh City job introduction centre will jointly organize the job fair.

It is expected to attract 30 enterprises with recruitment demand for nearly 1,000 laborers.

In 2011, the Ministry of Labor, Invalid and Social Affairs will focus on developing the labour market, building harmonious labour relations and improving the scale and quality of vocational training as per market demand. It will also shift towards industry and services and reduce stake in agriculture.

According to the ministry report, last year more than 1.6 million jobs were generated, an increase of 6 percent from 2009, with over 85,000 people sent to work abroad.

Industry and construction were the leading job creators in the country. Particularly, the project to train rural labor made a breakthrough in connecting enterprises, vocational training establishments and local authorities, contributing to generating stable jobs.
