Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved plans to make Hue a centrally administered city and a heritage town, the Thua Thien-Hue Province People’s Committee said.
Some of the city’s districts like Huong Thuy, Huong Tra, and Phu Vang will be enlarged.
The ‘festival city’ and country’s old capital is a culture powerhouse and tourism magnet.
Its population is expected to hit 615,000 by 2020.
