Continuous heavy rainfall lasting several hours flooded several streets and residential areas in Districts 7, 8, Binh Tan and Binh Chanh in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday afternoon.

Within one hour of rainfall, several sections of An Duong Vuong Street were submerged under half a meter of water, which flowed into several restaurants on either side of the street.
According to the Center for Urban Flood Control Program, floodwaters from nearby roads like Vo Van Kiet, Ly Chieu Hoang and Ngo Y Linh also flowed to flood An Duong Vuong Street, where a drainage system has yet to be built.
Other roads like Kinh Duong Vuong and Ho Hoc Lam Streets in Binh Tan District, Hoa Binh in Tan Phu District, Bau Cat in Tan Binh District, Huynh Tan Phat and Luong Dinh Cua in District 2 also lay submerged under 0.3-0.4 meters of floodwater.
Dozens of houses in Binh Dang and Binh Hung residential areas in Districts 8 and Binh Chanh were cut off by floodwaters.
In related news, unabated heavy rain has caused much damage to farms in Dong Thap and Ca Mau Provinces in the Mekong Delta. Tens of thousands of hectares of rice are either under floodwater or have been flattened.
