The tutorial aims to teach people about how Furoshiki can be used as an innovative, decorative way to help protect the environment by using the cloth to carry and wrap items instead of plastic bags.

Eco-friendly, multi-purpose Furoshiki thus promotes caring for the environment by reducing waste. Frequently used to transport clothes, gifts, or other goods in ancient times, the material is folded much like origami around its contents.

Modern Furoshiki, often decorated with traditional designs, can be made from a variety of materials including silk, chirimen (traditional Japanese heavy crape cloth), cotton, rayon, and nylon. Such versatility allows almost anything to be wrapped or carried in the cloth, regardless of its shape or size, and without contributing to environmental waste.

The workshop, led by Furoshiki expert Ms. Handa Hiroko from Japan, will be held at the International Convention Center (31 Le Duan Street, District 1). Visitors will also have the chance to learn more about Japanese culture and the history and development of this ancient art.

The tutorial will accept up to 25 guests per session and a phone booking is necessary.
