At a spring celebration program organized by the municipal authorities, Mr. Nhan said that the city’s economic growth reached 8.3 percent last year increasing year by year within three consecutive years. The city received 7.5 million international visitors accounting for 48 percent of the country’s number. Export import turnover and labor productivity continued taking the lead to top US$38 billion and be 2.92 times higher than the country’s average level. Budget revenue hit VND378 trillion to exceed plan.
The city also completed poverty reduction program two years before schedule. Nearly 44,130 enterprises were set up in 2018, accounting for 33.6 percent of the country.
The city emphasized and sped up the creative role of workers, said Mr. Nhan. Implementation of Resolution 54 is a creative solution to develop HCMC. Aside from that, the city drastically implemented the project of developing HCMC into a smart city, organized HCMC Economic Forum for the first time to discuss many contents including innovative district. That is a creative solution bringing new motive power for the city to move forward in the industry 4.0.
HCMC also launched Creativeness Award to affirm creative potential, condemned creative works in many fields, organized international surveys on innovative startup, started Campaign “HCMC residents do not liter in roads and canals for clean city and flooding reduction”. Moreover, Party development continued being intensified.
Mr. Nhan stressed that HCMC has chosen themes for 2019 comprising administrative reform breakthrough and implementation of Resolution 54 of the National Assembly. He hoped that classes of residents, cadres and party members will contribute ideas to develop the city more efficiently to meet expectation of residents as well as the city Party Committee and deserve to the belief of the Party, State and National Assembly.
Mr. Nhan believed that the city will obtain more results in 2019 with over 10 million residents including 4.5 million labor force who has promoted the tradition of unity, creativeness, resilience and humanity.
