HCMC needs VND 74, 000 billion for flood prevention program

The Ho Chi Minh City Management Center of Anti-flood Program yesterday proposed the HCMC People’s Committee an anti-flood project that needs VND 74, 000 billion  in the period of 2016- 2020.

By 2018, HCMC will improve the drainage systems in 18 roads affected by rains and nine places hit by flood tide.

From 2019- 2020, the city is going to resolve 15 places flooded by rain.

The center will continue proposing some more projects of anti- flood by 2020 such as implementing and completing component of “Integrated Urban Flood Risk Management and Building” funded by World Bank, project of the city’s anti- flood system of Emergency Operations Center (EOC), project of Nhieu Loc- Thi Nghe Channel Observation System, Tan Hoa- Lo Gom Rada Observation System and other projects.  

Irrigation and anti-flooding experts said that Ho Chi Minh City has currently implemented the plan No.1547 issued by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2008.
