The HCMC leader highly appreciated the relations between Vietnam and Australia in various fields including trade, investment, education, agriculture, defense and development assistant. Especially since the two countries upgraded their bilateral ties to a strategic partnership in 2018.
He affirmed that Australia and New South Wales particularly are important and trustworthy partners of HCMC. The signing of the MoU between Ho Chi Minh City and New South Wales in April plays an important role in implementing both sides’ cooperation programs.
The official hoped that two sides will boost the implementation of cooperation programs of tourism, travel and hospitality training; high-tech agriculture and food processing industry.
He also suggested HCMC and the Australian State will organize startup fair alternately to find best ideas and wished New South Wales will give the city an assistance of urban management.
HCMC is trying to become a large center for finance, commerce, science and technology in Southeast Asia; and focus on developing the Vietnam’s southern hub into a smart city, building innovative urban area in the east of the city including Districts 2, 9, the international financial center and a new Innovative Startup Center, Mr. Nhan said.
The city is also implementing urban upgrade projects, including urban planning, improving the public transport system and traffic standards, environmental sanitation and drainage systems.
He expected to see the participation of New South Wales in an International Conference Innovations and Creativity which will be held in HCMC in December along with representatives from Indonesia, Singapore, Finland and New Zealand.
Ms. Gladys Berejiklian, for her part, is willing to expand and deepen cooperation with HCMC in various sectors, especially organizing startup fairs, high tech agriculture as well as to become a market for HCMC’s fruit and vegetable exports.
On the same day, the delegation of officials of Ho Chi Minh city visited University of New South Wales and William Blue College of Hospitality Management under Torrens University.
