Speaking at a conference on schools system and building educational facilities organized by the municipal Department of Education and Training, Head of the department's Finance Planning Division Duong Tri Dung said that by September, 2019, the city has planned to invest in 832 educational projects for the period 2016-2020 to build an extra of 15,867 classrooms.
Of which, the city finished 322 projects and 5,883 new classrooms have been put into operation.
Presently, the city has 278 classrooms per 10,000 citizens for learners aged from 3 to 18. The city still has to build 7,045 additional classrooms by 2020.
Accordingly, Deputy Head of the Department Le Hoai Nam noticed people’s committees in districts to check schools system within their jurisdiction to provide empty land for building schools for the goal of 300 classrooms per 10,000 citizens.
For these overpopulated districts or high urbanized districts should tighten control over immigration to avoid approved planning as well as speed up progress of educational projects.
In the next time, the city will enhance reclaiming empty land for building school as well as appeal more social contribution to education sector to meet city dwellers’ demand of schools.
