HCMC leaders visit senior people

Delegations led by Ho Chi Minh City leaders yesterday paid visits to two senior residents on the International Day of Elderly People which falls on October 1.

The Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Secretary Dinh La Thang led a delegation to arrive at the houses of Nguyen Van Huu in Ben Thanh Ward in district 1 and Pham Van Tat in ward 7 in district 3. Mr. Thang wished the two elderly men a happy and healthy life.

Senior Tat expressed his expectation that the city leaders should attract more famous scientists and people in the world to contribute to the city’s growth, especially overseas Vietnamese people. 

The Party Secretary said that in the context of integration, cooperation with Vietnamese scientists in foreign countries is needed to join hand in developing the city in particular and the country’s in general.

Mr. Thang said that the meeting with Vietnamese people across over the world themed Vietnamese people in the world join hand to help HCMC’s development will take place in November, 2016 in HCMC. Through the meeting, city authority expects Vietnamese expatriates to offer effective measures for urgent matters of the city in long term and short term.

On the same day, Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Commission for Propaganda and Education Than Thi Thu also led a delegation to visit and wished Mr. Nguyen Van Banh in district Binh Tan and Ms. Nguyen Thi Van in district Tan Phu longevity.

Mr. Nguyen Van Banh is husband of Vietnamese Heroic mother and father of two martyrs. Now he is living with the youngest son.

Ms. Thu showed her consideration to the elderly people expressing her happiness to see these senior living happily which a good result of Tan Phu and Binh Tan district administrations’ taking care adding that the local government to continue paying attention to elderly people especially those living in difficult circumstances.
