The conference, organized by the Standing Board of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of HCMC, was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee, and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of HCMC.
Representatives from the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, member associations, government agencies, and local authorities outlined plans to implement a broad range of tribute and support activities for war veterans, martyrs' families, and other people who rendered distinguished service to the nation.
According to Mr. Pham Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the HCMC Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, preliminary reviews identified 829 beneficiaries across the city, including revolutionary contributors and policy beneficiary families in need of assistance.
Support measures will focus on sustainable, practical solutions rather than one-time aid. Planned assistance includes savings accounts, livelihood support packages, scholarships, health insurance, construction and renovation of gratitude houses, restoration of martyrs' portraits, wheelchairs, hearing aids, medical examinations, free medicines, and financial assistance for medical treatment.
The city aims to mobilize more than VND30 billion for gratitude programs during the anniversary period. Authorities also pledged that all living Vietnamese Heroic Mothers will continue receiving financial support and care, while disadvantaged beneficiaries will be promptly connected with appropriate assistance. Every commune, ward, and special administrative zone in the city is expected to organize at least one tribute activity dedicated to revolutionary contributors and policy beneficiary families.
During the conference, several organizations announced financial contributions to support the city's gratitude programs. Labor Hero, People's Physician, and Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Phuong donated VND300 million, while the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) contributed VND200 million.
The HCMC Federation of Labor donated VND50 million to support teams currently conducting the search and recovery of fallen soldiers' remains at Le Thi Rieng Park.
Vietcombank also presented gifts worth a total of VND325 million to 65 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, reinforcing the city's enduring tradition of honoring those who sacrificed for national independence.
City leaders stressed that gratitude programs should not be confined to the annual War Invalids and Martyrs Day observance but should remain a continuous, long-term mission reflecting HCMC's enduring spirit of solidarity and compassion.
Speaking on behalf of the city leadership, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc praised Party organizations, government agencies, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, businesses, religious organizations, intellectuals, and residents for actively supporting meaningful gratitude activities that have helped improve the lives of revolutionary contributors and ease the hardships faced by their families.
Emphasizing Vietnam's long-standing tradition of gratitude, he said policies for revolutionary contributors represent one of the nation's highest social priorities and must be implemented consistently, comprehensively, and effectively.
Throughout the city's development, the Party Committee, municipal government, and Vietnam Fatherland Front have mobilized the strength of national unity to effectively implement policies benefiting revolutionary contributors, while integrating gratitude activities with broader social welfare, social security, and military family support programs.
Based on reports presented at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc called for the mobilization of the entire political system and society to transform gratitude activities into a sustained patriotic movement across all levels of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
He urged member organizations, businesses, institutions, and individuals both inside and outside HCMC to continue partnering with the HCMC Vietnam Fatherland Front to expand practical, targeted, and meaningful support programs.
The city also plans to strengthen coordination among government departments, local authorities, and mass organizations to develop digital maps and publish detailed action plans for implementing gratitude policies. Authorities will conduct comprehensive reviews to ensure that assistance reaches Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, mothers and wives of martyrs, wounded and sick veterans, martyrs' families, and other revolutionary contributors accurately and without delay.
Beyond financial support and gift presentations, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc stressed the importance of preserving martyrs' cemeteries, memorials, and gravesites, while organizing candle-lighting ceremonies and remembrance activities. Additional efforts will focus on improving housing, healthcare, education, and sustainable livelihoods, particularly for families facing difficult living conditions.
He also emphasized that every support plan should clearly identify beneficiaries, funding sources, responsible agencies, and implementation measures. Gratitude activities, he said, should be closely linked with educating younger generations about patriotism, national traditions, and Vietnam's revolutionary history.
The city will continue supporting the national 500-day campaign to accelerate the search, recovery, and identification of martyrs' remains. Authorities also called on Party members, youth union members, veterans, and residents to provide information that could help locate missing soldiers and unidentified graves.
Alongside government funding, HCMC aims to diversify and expand social resources to ensure gratitude programs become increasingly sustainable and impactful.
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc also proposed several additional initiatives, including assigning the HCMC Department of Home Affairs to coordinate with relevant agencies in developing a comprehensive digital database and mapping system covering policies and beneficiaries related to revolutionary contributors.
Expressing confidence in the city's collective commitment, he said the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, member associations, businesses, and residents would continue working together to mobilize resources for long-term, practical, and sustainable support programs honoring those who sacrificed for the nation.
The conference also highlighted the city's ongoing contribution to the National Steering Committee's 500-day campaign for searching, recovering, and identifying martyrs' remains.
HCMC's search teams have been working around the clock at Le Thi Rieng Park, where they have so far recovered 55 sets of martyrs' remains along with numerous personal artifacts believed to provide valuable clues for future identification efforts.
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc reaffirmed that the HCMC Vietnam Fatherland Front will continue mobilizing financial and social resources to support search and recovery teams, helping them fulfill their mission while expanding search operations to other key locations in HCMC believed to contain the remains of fallen soldiers.
