HCMC kicks off 5th Green Consumption Campaign

The fifth annual Green Consumption Campaign on Saturday was kicked off at Saigon Co.op Supermarket Binh Trieu in Thu Duc District, Ho Chi Minh City to mobilize the public’s consumption of environment friendly products.

 

A lot of residents brought about empty milk cans and plastic bottles to exchange for gifts like greenery and dishwater at the supermarket. One hundred activists attended in a flashmob dance to respond the environment friendly lifestyle.

 

Environment friendly products will be placed in easy-to-see positions for consumers to choose, said a representative of the country’s leading retailer--Saigon Co.op supermarket chain.

 

The supermarket chain will implement promotional programs to increase awareness of environment protection from now until June 26.

 

Deputy Editor-in-chief of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper Ly Viet Trung said that environment improvement has been determined as one of key missions of HCMC from now until 2015. Besides efforts made by authorized agencies, the mission required the community to join hands for better environment.

 

The Green Consumption Campaign is co-organized by Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper, the HCM City Department of Industry and Trade and the Saigon Co.op Supermarket.
