HCMC gives gifts to workers, disabled people to welcome Tet

The Ho Chi Minh City Association Sponsoring for Disabled people and Orphans yesterday organized the program” Cay mua xuan- Thap sang long nhan ai” ( Spring tree to light up kindness) to give 2,000 gifts each worth VND500,000 (US$22.5) to disabled people and orphans residing in social houses and centers in the city.

The program received support of enterprises, companies and benefactors

On the same day, Labor Union in HCMC’s Nha Be District  held a meeting to present gifts to more than 100 poor and ill workers  who live in rented houses and earn unstable income as Tet holidays (Lunar New Year) is nearly coming.

Each gifts is worth VND500,000. Additionally, the labor union organized a competition to make and design apricot and peach trees and cooking good dishes for Tet holidays with the participation of 31 teams from labor unions in companies located in the district.

Each team was provided with VND300,000 to buy things for making trees and dishes. Trees will be given to workers who stay in HCMC on Tet holidays.

Elsewhere in the city, the Red Cross Society in coordination with Taiwanese (Chinese ) Tzu-chi, a charity association in Vietnam gave 500 gifts each worth VND500,000 to poor inhabitants in Can Gio District, district 10 and 5.

On the same day, the Taiwanese association and Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) presented 500 gifts including necessities and cash to poor households in Binh Chanh, Binh Tan and Tan Phu districts. Through the Red Cross Society, benefactors have provided over 56,600 gifts worth VND28.5 billion (US$1,271,526) to poor people and Orange Agent victims on Tet occasion.
