The Department of Industry and Trade in Ho Chi Minh City liaised with supermarkets and wholesale markets about consumption of farming produces.
As per the Department, the Mekong delta province of Soc Trang has abundance of 45,000 ton of onions. Eight markets agreed to sell around 572 tons a day at the price of VND8,000-13,000 per kilogram excluding transportation fee. Distributing systems in HCMC can consume around 130 a day.
Since it is difficult to preserve onions and low consumption, distribution systems limited importing.
For water melon, distribution stores in the city sell 161 tons every day. Luckily, authorities in central provinces said that no more water melon harvested to avoid flooding in stock thanks to organizations’ support.
Deputy head of the Department Le Ngoc Dao,, said that HCMC market is very big; accordingly the department is responsible for connecting farmers and distributors to consume farm products.
Moreover, next week a representative from the department and enterprises in HCMC make a tour to Soc Trang to find ways to help farmers consume onions. Similarly, enterprises will have talk about consumption of fruits and other farm products.
