HCMC begs for more electricity

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has asked that Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) give priority power supplies to producers and residents in the city

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has asked that Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) give priority power supplies to producers and residents in the city.

The committee has asked Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to issue an order that would ensure enough energy would be provided to keep production and daily life in the city from being uninterrupted by blackouts.

Accordingly, EVN should focus on mobilizing sources of electricity, supporting Ho Chi Minh City Power Company’s efforts to trade and produce power, and on equipping high capacity electric generators to meet demand in the city.

The city has been consuming 49 million kWh per day, 5 million kWh more than it is officially apportioned.
