The Ho Chi Minh City Stage Association held a celebration to mark its traditional day (the 11th day of the eighth lunar month) at the traditional theater house at 133 Co Bac Street in District 1 on September 11.
The annual celebration aims to create chance for artists in the city to pay tribute to the theatre’s ancestors who laid the foundation for the national art forms and contributed to their development through the years.
A series of cultural activities celebrating the event was organized in the HCM City Youth’s Cultural House, such as kylin and dragon dance, offering incense and flowers to the ancestor of the stage, presenting gifts to veteran artists and scholarships to disadvantaged artists’ children, honoring performers who have made outstanding contribution to social activities and others on the same day.
Special performances to commemorate anniversary of the ancestor of cai luong and stage were also held at Tran Huu Trang Cai Luong Theater, Ho Chi Minh City Ha Boi (Vietnamese Classical Opera) Art Theater, Phuong Nam Art Theater, 5B Vo Van Tan Drama Theater, and private stages Hoang Thai Thanh, Hong Van, Trinh Kim Chi and more.
On the same day, comedian Hoai Linh inaugurated the temple of stage’s ancestor in District 9 on the traditional day with the participation of many artists in the city.
