National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines announced to delay flights including VN330, VN331, VN320, VN321, VN346, VN347, VN340, VN341, VN384 and VN385 between Hanoi to Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo and Ho Chi Minh City to Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo for around 22 hours.
Simultaneously, the carrier will cancel flights VN336 and VN337 between the central city of Da Nang and Osaka and flights VN302 and VN303 between HCMC and Tokyo until next day.
Similarly, Vietjet Airway announced cancellations on four flights VJ822, VJ823, VJ932, and VJ933 departing from HCMC/ Hanoi and Tokyo on October 11 and in the morning of October 12 adding that affected passengers will be transferred to other flights when the weather improves.
At the same time, Vietjet also decided to delay flights VJ828, VJ829, VJ938, and VJ939 between HCMC. Hanoi and Osaka today for around 16 hours as well as delay VJ822, VJ823, VJ932, and VJ933 between HCMC/ Hanoi and Tokyo departing on October 12 and 13 for around 5 hours.
Airline carriers advised passengers who are planning to travel to and from Japan to update weather information and carriers’ notices so as to change their plans accordingly.
Typhoon Hagibis is considered as the strongest typhoon hitting Tokyo since 1958. According to Reuters and Bloomberg, more than 1,000 flights from and to Japan have been rescheduled and cancelled while training and subway activities have been adjusted.
