FIFA World Player of 2006 to visit Vietnam in January

Fabio Cannavaro, FIFA World Player of the Year 2006, who led Italy to victory in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, will visit Vietnam in early January at the invitation of a sponsor on the occasion they launch new products.

Fabio Cannavaro, FIFA World Player of the Year 2006, who led Italy to victory in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, will visit Vietnam in early January at the invitation of a sponsor on the occasion they launch new products.

The former Italy captain will arrive in Ho Chi Minh City on January 6, 2012 and stay three days. The five-star hotel Park Hyatt is where he stays during the visit.

The former defender will have three busy days in the southern city. He will meet with local media and fans, playing in a friendly match and see some clients of his trip’s sponsor.

The sponsor name has so far remained unknown as contracted.

Cannavaro is now 38. He retired from professional football in 2011 due to an injury troubled season in Al'Ahli, Dubai of the United Arab Emirates.

In 2005, England former captain David Beckham called at HCM City for a few hours in a trip to publicize the FIFA World Cup. Three years later, Brazil’s Olympic team with superstars Ronaldinho and Pato came to Hanoi ahead of the 2010 Beijing Olympics to play a warm-up match for the Games with the Vietnamese national squad.
