The two-day festival, held on Lim Hill in Tien Du District, also aims to preserve the Quan ho tradition which has been recognized by UNESCO as part of the world’s intangible cultural heritage.
The first day of the festival featured traditional games such as wrestling, cock-fighting and human chess apart from Quan ho performances.
The Quan ho folk songs are performed on various occasions including the worship of gods, fertility rituals and village festivals. They are treasured by the communities as a symbol of local and regional identity.
A performance of Quan ho folk songs held at the Kinh Bac Culture Center in Bac Ninh will be broadcast live on VTV1 channel on February 28, or Tet Nguyen Tieu – the 15th day of the first lunar month.
