Famous Japanese viola player to perform in Hanoi

Famous Vietnamese artists including violinists Bui Cong Duy and Dao Mai Anh, cellists Ngo Hoang Quan and Dao Thi Mo together with viola player Nguyen Thi Thu Nga will join the show.
The artists will present to music lover masterpieces by W. A. Mozart, B. Britten and J.Brahms.

Nobuko Imai studied at the Toho School of Music at Yale University and the Juilliard School and she has won the highest prizes at both the Munich and the Geneva international competitions.

Her many prizes include the Avon Arts Award (1993), the Education Minister's Art Prize for Music awarded by the Japanese Agency of Cultural Affairs (1994), the Mobil Prize of Japan (1995) and the Suntory Music Prize (1996). In 2003, Imai received the Purple Ribbon Medal from the Japanese government for her outstanding contribution to music. Imai held the first International Viola Competition in Tokyo in May 2009.

Formerly a member of the esteemed Vermeer Quartet, Ms. Imai now combines a distinguished international solo career accompanying orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Concertgebouw, Vienna Symphony, Stockholm Philharmonic, London Symphony, BBC orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Boston Symphony and the Chicago Symphony. She also teaches at the Conservatory in Amsterdam and Geneva, where she is a Professor.

In 2003, along with Mihaela Martin, Stephan Picard and Frans Helmerson, Nobuko Imai formed the Michelangelo Quartet, of which the debut concerts at the Amsterdam Concergebouw in 2003 were met with great success. This led to many engagements in halls such as Theatre des Champs-Elysees and the Tonhalle in Zurich and at festivals in Edinburgh, Naantali and the Tokyo edition of La Folle Journée de Nantes.
  
The music performance will start at 8 pm at the Vietnam Contemporary Song, Dance and Music Theater at No. 79 Hang Trong in Hanoi.
