The European Music Festival 2016 will be held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from November 18-December 3.
Music lovers will have a chance to enjoy a series of spellbinding and enchanting concerts at the Youth Theatre and Vietnam National Academy of Music in Hanoi and the Conservatory of Music in Ho Chi Minh City.
The annual cultural event is jointly organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam, the Embassies of EU Member States and the European Cultural Institutes, aiming to bring musical talents from the European Union to Vietnamese audiences as well as honor the richness and diversity of European culture.
In this 15th edition of the festival, Vietnamese audience will enjoy 16 top-notch performances by virtuoso artists from Austria, Belgium (Wallonia-Brussel), France, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Sweden.
The festival will give an opportunity to music lovers of all ages to experience and explore contemporary and classical music.
Audience is expected to be infatuated in melodious and delicate tunes of classic musicimprovising and engaging jazz, unique and exciting rhythms of pop indie, captivating blues melodies and heart-throbbing rock beats with great songs and incredible voices.
The renowned Hungarian violinist Katica Illényi will be on the stage with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra and conductor Honna Tetsuji at the opening classical concert at the Vietnam National Academy of Music in Hanoi on 18 November.
On the same day, the festival will also open with a perfromance by the Jazz Trio, including Angelika Niescier, Simone Zanchini and Stefano Senni from Germany and Italy at the Ho Chi Minh city Conservatory of Music.
Audience will be immersed in a festive jazz feast presented by Duo Lylit Neuschmid (Austria), Quartet Samy Thiébault (France), Duo Barbara Wiernik & Nicola Andrioli (Belgium/ Wallonia-Brussels) in following concerts.
José González and his band from Sweden will surprise audience with their fusion of folk, rock and blues. People will be heart-melting by the indie pop concert by Lavagance (Slovakia).
The festival will be closed in Ho Chi Minh city on December 1 with a classical concert featuring virtuoso Polish pianist Maciej Grzybowski and in Hanoi on 3 December by driving rock beats of Grand Blanc band from France.
Admission to the concerts is free of charge. Tickets are avilable at Goethe Institute and L’Espace in Hanoi; at Goethe Institute and IDECAF in HCM City from November 15.
The European Music Festival is an annual event originating from the Jazz Music Festival in 2005. The festival receives a warm response from the Vietnamese public with thousands of audiences every year.
