A four-day-old girl born with her heart outside her chest died after recent surgery to correct the problem, said the Central Hue Hospital’s acting director and chief surgeon Doctor Bui Duc Phu.
It was rare that she was even able to survive for four days; in most cases, the baby would only have survived for a few hours.
