Da Lat receives the third-class Independence Order

The State President honored the Party, local authorities and people in the resort town for their achievements in various fields, outstanding contribution in national renewal, industrialization, modernization and international integration.

Da Lat Cultural Tourism Week 2013 themed “Da Lat colorful flowers”, Central Highlands-Da Lat National Tourism Year 2014 titled “High Mountains and Thick Forests of the Central Highlands”, the Vietnam-ASEAN-UNESCO Heritage Festival, the 120th anniversary of Da Lat City, and the fifth Da Lat Flower Festival opened on December 27.

A national flower exhibition is being held during Da Lat Cultural Tourism Week from December 27-31, featuring more than 28,000 flowers, ornamental plants, and bonsais of nearly 97 domestic and international enterprises from the flower growing industry participating in the display at Da Lat City Flower Park.

A statue of Uncle Ho made of flowers measuring 3m high and 2.4 m wide is one of the highlights.

In addition, Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago, the sovereignty landmark and the red flag with a gold star will also be made of stone and flowers at the festival, contributing to highlighting Vietnam's sovereignty over the Islands and Sea.

An exhibition entitled “Nguyen Dynasty Woodblocks: International Legacies” opened in Lam Dong Province’s Da Lat City on December 27 by the National Archives Centre IV.

The display introduces to viewers history of woodblock, Vietnamese history and culture as well as valuable images and documents of Da Lat history and typical architectures.

A flower fair presenting Da Lat flower industry opened on December 28 with aiming to boost the local flower industry and acts as a center for local and international flower lovers and growers to interact and exchange experiences.

Da Lat flower industry has a strong development during 20 years. The city produced about 40 million flower branches with 120 hectares. In this year, the area for flower farms is 3,800 hectares, producing 1.5 billion branches and making a turnover of VND2, 500 billion.
