State President Tran Dai Quang attended the opening ceremony of Vietnam's ethnic groups cultural day at the culture and tourism village of Vietnamese ethnic minority groups in Son Tay, Hanoi on April 16.
The president highly appreciated achievements of the cultural, sport and tourism sector, relevant departments, local authorities and ethnic minority communities in preserving and developing cultures of ethnic groups in the country.
He stressed that the Government from 2009 declared April 19 as the annual Cultural Day for Vietnamese Ethnic Groups with the aim of honoring cultural values of 54 ethnic groups, strengthening the great national unity and promoting patriotism.
This year’s event includes a series of cutural activities, such as traditional art perfromances, folk games, food fair displaying local specilities.
Nearly 120 village patriarchs and artisans from various ethnic groups participated in the event, inucluding Muong, Thai, Kho Mu, Ede, Gie Trieng, San Chay, Dao, and Khmer.
The cultural day of Vietnamese ethnic groups will end April 19.
