Rach Chiec Bridge, which links Ho Chi Minh City’s District 2 with District 9 and Thu Duc District showed several cracks and leakages despite it has just opened to traffic for one and half year, according to Sai Gon Giai Phong reporters.
Several cracks have appeared on two sides of the bridge - branch liking District 2 with District 9 and leakages are 10- centimetres deep and 3-0 metre length.
The cracks have also appeared on the bridge - branch linking Thu Duc District with District 2, causing an obstruction for traffic.
Vu Van Diep, deputy director of the Urban Transport Zone No.2 said that the bridge is still under warranty so the investor will repair it as soon as possible, he said.
The new Rach Chiec Bridge project includes three separate branches. Of which, two branches of the Rach Chiec Bridge opened to traffic in the end of 2010 and the last branch is expected to complete in July 2012.
