Corporation proposes $1.27 billion expressway in Mekong Delta

Cuu Long Corporation for Investment, Development and Project Management of Infrastructure has proposed the Ministry of Transport to permit preparation for construction of Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang expressway in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam, said the company on December 17.

According to the proposal, the expressway will be built under public private partnership (PPP) model with the total investment capital of VND29,602.2 billion (US$1.27 billion), of which the State will give 50 percent capital assistance. 
The project is planned to be a horizontal axis in the region, running through An Giang, Hau Giang and Soc Trang provinces and Can Tho city.
The route will run along the Hau river and in parallel with Highway No.91, designed with the total length of 200 kilometers, starting in Chau Doc town in An Giang province and ending in Soc Trang city in the homonymous province.
The four lane expressway with the design speed of 80 kilometers an hour is expected to start construction in 2023-2026.
