According to the district’s authorities, the local government has implemented the work of clearing a path and digging the canal. The compensation payments, relocation, job search assistance are expected to be completed in April, 2018.
The project on the canal, which runs through Tan Son Nhat airport and Cong Hoa Street is invested with a total capital of VND139 billion by the Construction Investment Project Management Board of Tan Binh District.
The project also include the construction of catch pits and the installation of box culverts on the 837.5 meter long section from Phan Thuc Duyet to Cong Hoa streets. Infrastructures, such as tree planting , lighting system and other facilities will be finished in 2019.
There are three canals responsible for rainwater drainage at Tan Son Nhat airport, including Hy Vong –Tham Luong Canal in Tan Binh District in the north of the airport, A41 Canal in the south and Nhat Ban Canal from the airport fence to Gia Dinh Park in the southeast. In recent times, heavy rains have caused heavy flooding at the airport, leading to flight delays and cancellations. The A41 canal dredging project has been approved to prevent flooding at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
