Ho Chi Minh City authorities have decided to fine the Hoang Tuan Gasoline Trading Service Production Co.Ltd VND39.5 million (US$1,975), for supplying poor-quality gasoline and for selling less gas than displayed on the pump screen, said the city Market Management Board on December 9.

The petrol station is located at 1434 Pham Hien Street, Ward 5, District 8.
The city’s inspectors found that the gas station pump less gas, than displayed on the screen about 4.57 percent to 5.26 percent of every sale.
In addition, it was found that the petrol station has over 12,000 litres of poor-quality gasoline in their tanks and the city authorities have asked the company to removed or ‘get rid of’ this poor-quality gasoline.
According to the city Market Management Board, as of December 12, inspectors have checked over 53 petrol stations around the city. They have discovered 22 cases of petrol station’s cheating the public. This cheating has included poor-quality gasoline, which was found at four petrol stations, and at another six petrol stations, gas pumps delivered less gas than displayed on the screen. This was from 1.25% - 1.5%.
Petrol Inspectors stated, eleven cases of violating fire prevention regulations were also discovered and two petrol stations did not display their prices. Furthermore, another two business did not have certifications. According to inspectors, cheating petrol stations are using illegal electronic chips, to defraud customers, as this can effect and alter the petrol pump meter.
