People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has decided to name district 9’s eight new streets following the name of some Vietnamese famous artists like poet Nguyen Dinh Thi, Xuan Quynh, Huy Can, songwriter Diep Minh Tuyen, Pham Trong Cau, Trinh Cong Son and Cai Luong’s artist Thanh Nga and Ut Tra On.

This decision aims to honor great contributions of artists in the field of literature and art culture.
Particularly, Trinh Cong Son (February 28, 1939 – April 1, 2001) was a Vietnamese composer, musician, songwriter, painter and poet. He is widely considered as one of the leading artists of modern Vietnamese music with nearly 600 songs. Most of Trinh's songs have philosophycal meanings on love & life.
The Ho Chi Minh City is the third places named street following the name of late composer Trinh Cong Son, after Hue and Da nang cities
They are Vietnamese well- known talent artists, who had great contributions in literature and art development, said Vice Standing Director of HCMC Department of Culture and Sport Le Ton Thanh.
Prof. Dr Tran Ngoc Them, a standing member of Committee of renaming roads and streets completely agreed with the decision.
Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City Cultural Heritage Association Le Tu Cam said that the renaming aims to affirm important role of art culture sector in preserving the character of the national culture.
