According to the Department of Industry and Trade in Ho Chi Minh City, industrial manufacturing index in June rose 2.2 percent over the previous month and 6.8 percent year-on-year.
Of which, processing industry, a major industry of HCMC, surged 2.2 percent compared to the previous month, and 6.9 percent compared to the same period last year.
In the first six months of this year, industrial manufacturing grew 5.2 percent year-on-year with processing industry adding 5.2 percent, and power generation and distribution climbing 6.8 percent year-on-year.
Among 26 industrial manufacturing industries, 23 saw an increase, in which some high proportion industries such as food processing, beverage, leather and footwear showed higher than general growth of the entire industry.
Industrial manufacturing index of four key industries in June increased 0.4 percent compared to that in May and 3.3 percent year-on-year. While in the first six months of this year this rose 5.1 percent year-on-year.
Food processing soared 8 percent; pharmaceutical rubber industry mounted 8.1 percent; electronics industry inched up 3.4 percent; and mechanical manufacturing ticked 1.3 percent.
Industrial production of the City continued to post growth in June. Thus, growth rate in the first six months of this year still managed to keep a rising momentum month by month.
Particularly, growth rate in the first three months was at 3.6 percent; in the first four months at 4 percent; in the first five months at 4.6 percent; and in the first six months at 5.2 percent.
