Mr. Quan asked all business heads to prepare for any worst case scenarios in event of a downturn, seeing the present state of the world economy that is expected to worsen further by next year.

He asked entrepreneurs to support the city in its socio-economic development plan in the first year of the five phased program from 2011-2016.

Some of the businesses suggested that the city should request the State Bank of Vietnam to offer preferential interest loans to exporters, product manufacturers and agro processing units.

On the same day, Nguyen Thi Hong, deputy chairwoman of the People’s Committee of HCMC met with relevant departments concerning petitions relating to socio-economic development projects in Go Vap district.

The district has met with some roadblocks in projects to build apartment blocks for low-income groups, broadening of Duong Quang Ham and Nguyen Kiem Streets and removal of nearly 9,000 tombs from residential areas.

Ms. Hong instructed the district authorities to resolve these issues and give priority to health and education projects.
