Nguyen Huu Tin, deputy chairman of the People’s Committee in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday discussed the progress of all the anti-flood projects in the city with members of the Steering Center for Flood Prevention.

The Steering Center bared all the pitfalls and obstacles it was facing. Anti-flood projects were at a standstill due to lack of funds and besides, too much red tape in various departments were holding up larger projects.
The Center wants the city to provide an additional VND10 billion (USD476, 000) by 2015 for its anti-flood projects, dredging of city canals and improving the drainage system.
Tin assured the Center that the city administration would resolve issues put forward and asked relevant departments to speed up projects dealing with flooding from now until 2025.
