Ho Chi Minh City leaders on February 3 met with underprivileged citizens and social policy beneficiaries in the city’s Can Gio District, hospitals and charity centers ahead of Tet (the lunar New Year).

A delegation led by Chairman of the city People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan arrived in Can Gio to greet the district People’s Committee and leaders of An Thoi Dong Commune.
During the visit, Chairman Quan said that local leaders need to implement all possible measures to protect Can Gio forest and Rung Sac road.
A Can Gio District representative said the community had so far completed local traffic and water supply infrastructure systems.
In the future, the district will continue to boost development of tourism and the training of human resources, the district’s representative said.
Mr. Quan also offered gifts in An Thoi Dong Commune to soldiers at the headquarters of the HCMC border post.
On the occasion, Can Gio District held a ceremony for the opening of the An Thoi Dong road which took three years to build , with total capital of VND36 billion (US$1.9 million).
On the same day, Deputy Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee Huynh Thi Nhan visited former city leaders and families of senior members.
A delegation led by chairwoman of the People’s Council, Pham Phuong Thao, visited and offered gifts to staff at the HCMC Tumor Hospital, Thu Duc Mental Center, Tam Binh Children Sponsoring Center, and Dong Nai Province.
Speaking to Dong Nai Province leaders, Ms. Thao expressed her desire to continue promoting socioeconomic cooperation between the province and HCMC.
In related news, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee held a meeting February 3 in Hanoi with an overseas Vietnamese delegation who will celebrate Tet in Vietnam this year.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Vu Trong Kim spoke about the country’s socioeconomic development and affirmed that the State and Vietnam Fatherland Front will try their best to protect the rights of overseas Vietnamese in foreign countries.
