City leaders give gifts to HIV/AIDS patients

Ho Chi Minh City’s leaders went around town yesterday visiting and encouraging HIV/AIDS patients in response to World AIDS Day on December 1.

Hua Ngoc Thuan, vice chairman of the HCMC government and chairman of the AIDS Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and representatives of the Ministry of Health and relevant agencies visited and presented gifts to HIV/AIDS patients in the city’s Tropical Disease Hospital and a center for raising children Linh Xuan in District Thu Duc.

Mr. Thuan applauded doctors and medical workers in the hospital and the center who have overcome difficulties to take after these special patients.

Chu Quoc An, deputy head of the Ministry of Health’s Vietnam Administration of HIV Control said the hospital is the first to discover and receive HIV/ AIDS patients in the city in particular and Vietnam in general, who are still alive and in stable health condition. He praised doctors who vanquished their personal difficulties to take care HIV patients most of whom are needy.

In the meantime, representatives from the city’s Department of Health gave gifst to HIV/AIDS patients in hospitals Pham Ngoc Thach, Nhan Ai and Mai Hoa center.
