City labor union support workers, children in heart surgeries

Lately, leaders of the HCMC Labor Union arrived at the city Heart Institute to visit and present gift to 27 year old worker Nguyen Thi Anh Ve from the central province of Binh Dinh who is a worker of Textile and Garment Company Dai Viet in Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone.

Ms. Ve has undergone a heart surgery costing VND70 million (US$ 3,160); of which, insurance company paid VND20 million (US$902.9), her company labor union supported VND10.7 million (US$483) and the rest was covered by the HCMC Labor Union’s program “Affection Heart”.
 
The union leaders gave Ms. Ve a cash of VND10 million (US$ and gift for strengthening her health after the operation. Labor union of the Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone also gave her a box of dairy products and a cash of VND1 million.
 
Union leaders also visited and gave a cash of VND10 million (US$ 448) and gifts to 22 month old baby Nguyen Duy Bao Yen, daughter of worker Nguyen Thi Kim Duy of Hansae Company in Northwest Cu Chi Industrial Park, who had undergone a heart surgery in Children Hospital No.2.
 
Since 2002 when the program was launched to support workers and their children who need heart operation, the program has spent nearly VND3.3 billion (US$ 148,000) for 34 workers and their children.
