The HCM City administration lauded the overseas Vietnamese (Viet Kieu) community for their contributions to national development asked for continued support.

Over 700 overseas Vietnamese or Viet Kieu attended a Lunar New Year meeting with Ho Chi Minh City administration leaders at the Rex Hotel on February 4.
HCM City People’s Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan conveyed Lunar New Year greetings to the Viet Kieu community.
“The Vietnamese Party and State highly appreciate the contributions made by overseas Vietnamese in the struggles for national liberation and unity as well as in the period of integration and development,” he said.
He called on the Viet Kieu community to continue to invest in the city and the country.
Mr. Quan awarded certificates of merit to 16 Viet Kieu residents and for local departments for outstanding contributions in supporting Viet Kieu in 2009.
The HCMC Medal was awarded to Vietnamese-French citizen Nguyen Thanh Thai, Director General of the Phu My Bridge BOT Joint Stock Company.
