Chinese community in HCM City prepares to celebrate Tet Nguyen Tieu

The Tet Nguyen Tieu, a folk festival of Chinese and Vietnamese people in HCMC that traditionally falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month, will be celebrated here from 12th to 18th days (February 25 to March 3).

Performances of the kylin-lion-dragon dance and Chinese traditional music in Hainan language will be organized by the Hai Nam Club from 12th-15th days of the first lunar month.

Chinese traditional theater operas in Chaozhou language and a fund-raising auction of lanterns will take place on the 13th -18th days, according to the Nghia An Club.

A performance of martial arts will be held in the evening of the 13th day by the Cultural Center of District 11 with the participation of Vietnamese and Chinese troupes.

Tet Nguyen Tieu will end at the Cultural Center in District 5 with the participation of traditional martial arts and calligraphy troupes from China’s Guangdong province. The event will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China.
