Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index which tracks 303 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange revived 0.32 per cent, or 1.37 points, to close at 429.39 points.

Among the index members, 158 advanced, 97 declined, while 55 stocks remained unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse fell by 16 per cent in volume and 20 per cent in value over the previous day as more than 62.95 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND917.53 billion today.

Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MBB) was the most active share in volume for six consecutive trading sessions with 5.04 million shares changing hands.

The fifth largest listed lender Vietnam Commercial Joint Stock Export Import Bank or Eximbank (EIB) was the runner-up with 3.24 million shares traded.

Vietnam Electricity Construction Joint Stock Corporation (VNE) took third rank with 2.53 million shares.

Basa Joint Stock Company (BAS) saved 9.09 per cent to close at VND1,200.

Binh Minh Plastic Joint-Stock Company (BMP) and Gemadept Corporation (GMD) escalated 5 per cent to close at VND44,100, and VND25,200 respectively.

Tuong An Vegetable Oil Joint Stock Company (TAC) salvaged 4.98 per cent to close at VND25,300.

Saigon Beverage Joint Stock Company (TRI) and Cavico Viet Nam Mining & Construction Joint Stock Company (MCV) adjusted 5 per cent to close at VND1,900, and VND3,800 respectively.

Bien Hoa Packaging Joint Stock Company (SVI) sank 4.91 per cent to VND21,300.

Song Da Urban & Industrial Zone Investment & Development Joint Stock Company (SJS) and Hai Van Cement Joint Stock Company (HVX) crushed 4.88 per cent to close at VND21,300, and VND31,200 respectively.

The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – retrieved 5.31 points, or 1.1 per cent, to end at 487.96. Among its 30 members, 19 stocks gained, 8 retreated, and 3 were unmoved.

Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north rescued 1.85 per cent, or 1.28 points, to close at 70.54 points with 205 winners, 83 losers, and 51 stocks treaded water. Around 80 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND663.73 billion.

Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares inched up 0.26 per cent, or 0.09 points, to close at 34.39 points. A total of 163,078 shares changed hands at VND920 million.
