Two Vietnamese swimming athletes Anh Vien and Quy Phuoc grabbed two more gold medals that helped Vietnam reach second rank in the medals tally at the 27th SEA Games with a total of 43 gold medals, 36 silver medals and 43 bronze medals on December 16.
In the final round of women’s 400 meters mixed category, Anh Vien was the first runner, scoring victory in 4 minutes 46 seconds. With this achievement, Anh Vien beat old record of 26th SEA Games.
This is the third gold medal that Anh Vien has brought for Vietnam in the women’s swimming category in this year’s SEA Games. Also in the same category, Indonesia athlete Dewi Ressa Kania was judged second winner, scoring victory in 4 minutes 59 seconds.
In this year’s SEA Games, Anh Vien registered in eight categories, including women’s backstroke, butterfly, individual medley, and freestyle. Anh Vien finished excellently and her performances grabbed three gold medals, two silver medals and a bronze medal for Vietnam. She beat the record in the women’s 200 meters backstroke and 400 meters mixed category at this year’s SEA Games.
Along with Anh Vien, swimming athlete Quy Phuoc also tried his best to grab one more gold medal, winning in 1 minute 50 seconds in the men’s 200 meters freestyle. The silver medal went to swimmer Henry Bego from Malaysia with a win in 1 minute 51 seconds.
