The orchestra performed at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music on October 26, at Hanoi Opera House on October 28 and at the Vietnam National Convention Centre in Hanoi on October 29.

The orchestra was founded on the idea of building the reputation of academic music in the region, said director of the HCM City Conservatory of Music Van Thi Minh Huong.

Ms. Huong said the ASEAN orchestra mostly gathers young musicians, so she expects they will have more opportunities to demonstrate their talent in international performances.

Orchestral performances are expected to become annual events in each ASEAN country every year.

Vietnamese members of the orchestra were selected from the country's leading musical institutions, including the HCM City Conservatory of Music, the National Academy of Music, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the Viet Nam Orchestra and Ballet.
