2nd European Literature Days opens

The 2nd European Literature Days will be organized in Ho Chi Minh City on May 9-14.

 Eight European countries, Denmark, Germany, France, Sweden, Great Britain, Italy, Austria and Belgium will present works which have recently been published in Vietnamese, in collaboration with several major publishers.

The event will offer a lot of exciting activities for book lovers, including book presentations of “The Quarantine” by former Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Lorenzo Angeloni, “The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared” by the Swedish author Jonas Jonasson, Maurice Maeterlinck's “The Intelligence of Flowers”; an exchange with Belgian talented writer and illustrator Quentin Gréban; readings; workshops; exhibitions; film screenings and big discounts on European books.

One of the highlight events is “Perfectly Magical – 20 Years of Harry Potter” which will be organized by the British Council Vietnam, with the support of Hogwarts Vietnam and Tre Publishing House. Harry Potter fans will have an opportunity to enjoy all editions that published by Youth Publishing House in the past twenty years, and join magical interactive activities with Hogwarts Vietnam, such as “sending your owl” to your beloved ones at the 9¾ station, choosing one of the four Hogwarts Houses and more.

The European Literature Days have been held annually in Hanoi by EUNIC, the association of European Cultural Institutes and Embassies, since 2011.

It celebrates and shares the best of European literature with Vietnamese readers as well as opening the opportunity for a much wider audience of literature lovers in Vietnam to participate.

All activities of the event will be also held at the Goethe-Institute, l’Espace ad Casa Italia and the nook street in Hanoi from May 6-14; and at IDECAF, Hoa Sen (Lotus) University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Saturday House, Kim Dong Book Center and Nguyen Van Binh Book Street in HCMC on May 9-14.
