2,500 Vallet scholarships to be granted to good students

In the framework of the program “Gap go Viet Nam “ (Meeting Vietnam), 549 outstanding students from universities, colleges and high schools in the northern provinces were awarded Vallet scholarships in Hanoi on August 23.

In the framework of the program “Gap go Viet Nam “ (Meeting Vietnam), 549 outstanding students from universities, colleges and high schools in the northern provinces were awarded Vallet scholarships in Hanoi on August 23.

Founder Professor Odon Vallet, Vietnamese-French Professor Tran Thanh Van and Professor Le Kim Ngoc presented the scholarships worth VND5.425 billion (roughly US$260,000) to the students.

This time, each high school students will receive a scholarship of VND8.5 million (US$378.5) meanwhile college and university students, post-graduates and research students received VND14 million (about $680) each.

In addition, those who live far from the venue will be supported accommodation and travel cost to the city.

As scheduled, the two professors will continue travelling to the central provinces of Vinh, Thua Thien- Hue, Vinh Town and Da Nang city, the highlands province of Lam Dong’s Da Lat Town and Ho Chi Minh City to continue the scholarship program.

Since its establishment in 2001, the fund has awarded over VND120 billion ($5.5 million) to more than 25,000 students. The fund was established by French Professor Odon Vallet from France's Sorbonne University through the Meeting Viet Nam organization founded by Vietnamese-French Professor Tran Thanh Van
