17th ‘Mai Vang Awards’ honors 10 outstanding artists

 

10 artists were honored for their work at the 17th Mai Vang Awards Ceremony at the Ho Chi Minh City Grand Theatre, evening of January 14.

 

The ‘Mai Vang Awards’ (Yellow Apricot Awards) are organized annually to honor outstanding artists for their work based on readers votes of Nguoi Lao Dong (Labourers) Newspaper.

The Mai Vang Award in the Music Category and the Most Popular Song of 2011 went to “Can Phong” (The Room) composed by musician Bao Le.

 

In the Drama Category, the play “Quyen luc tinh yeu “(Power of Love), written by Nguyen Quang Vinh and directed by Huu Chau, was named ‘Most Popular Play of the Year’.

 

In the Cinematography Category, the ‘Most Popular Film’ was “Mot thoi ta duoi bong” (Once upon a time I followed a shadow) directed by Truong Dung. In the Television Category, the ‘Most Popular TV program’ was “Ngoi nha mo uoc” (The Dream House) by HCMC Television.

 

While the ‘Most Popular Artists’ named were MC Quyen Linh; actor Binh Minh; theatre actress Le Khanh and film actress Nhat Kim Anh.

 

In the Music Category, Singer Dam Vinh Hung of the the music band, V-Music, was named ‘Most Popular Male light Music Singer’ and Ho Ngoc Ha was named ‘Most Popular Female light Music Singer’.

 

Uyen Trang was selected as ‘Most Popular Female Folk Revolutionary Music Singer’.

 

Actor Hoai Linh won the ‘Mai Vang Award’ for the sixth time as the ‘Most Popular Comedian’ and ‘Most Popular Actor’.

 

10 singers were awarded the title ‘Artists of the Year’ namely, Ho Ngoc Ha, Minh Hang, Dam Vinh Hung, Cam Ly, Thanh Thuy, Thu Thuy, Ngo Phuoc Thinh, Uyen Trang, Ha Anh Tuan and Duong Trieu Vu.
