Yamaha workers go on strike for higher pay in Hanoi

About 3,000 workers at the Yamaha Motor factory in Hanoi went on strike on Monday demanding an increase in salary and allowance.

About 3,000 workers at the Yamaha Motor factory in Hanoi went on strike on Monday demanding an increase in salary and allowance.

The factory is located in Noi Bai Industrial Zone, Quang Dien Commune of Soc Son District.

Some of the workers said that before the gasoline and electricity prices raised, the factory management had agreed to lift their wages by VND200, 000 for those who had worked there for over two years.

At present, the starting salary for workers is VND1,650,000 per month and for those whose tenure is more than five years it is VND2,030,000.
