The export turnover of wood products of nine months is worth around US$2.4 billion, said Tran Duc Sinh, chairman of the Vietnam Association of Timber & Forest Products.

The chairman announced this at a press conference for the festival of forest products next March in Qui Nhon City of the central province of Binh Dinh.
Mr. Sinh said export orders of timber processing businesses in 2010 expected to outstrip last years with US$3.1 billion threshold for the whole year (it is US$2.6 billion in 2009).
Three major markets of Vietnam is the US with turnover of over US$1.1 billion, EU countries with around US$600 million and Japan nearly US$400 million.
Wooden products are one of five key export items of the country. Vietnam becomes the second country in the Southeast Asia region to export a lot of products made from wood.
Mr. Sinh said around 3,000 wooden products will be displayed at the festival including chairs and tables outside, interior decoration for living room, bedroom and kitchen cabinets.
