The month-long action aims to call for residents to take part in the program connecting with economic growth and environment protection as well as the government’s new rural plan quality.
In addition to achievement, the city still has remaining in protecting water resources and environment hygiene. Rapid urbanization with increased migration of people from rural to the city’s suburban districts has posed massive challenges in water supply and environmental sanitation.
Worse, natural water resource is being overexploited to supply for over 10 million dwellers. Moreover, waste produced from production activities especially in agricultural activities such as pesticide bottles is not properly collected and treated. Besides, poultry farms are located in residential quarters affecting residents’ living quality.
Discharges from industrial parks, export processing zones and handicraft villages not properly treated also make impact on people’s living condition.
In response to the event themed “Safe water for the community’s health”, the People’s Committee in Binh Chanh signed an agreement between private garbage collecting companies in communes to take waste in time. The committee also signed an agreement with women associations and households in communes to keep roads without litter.
Moreover, the committee signed a memorandum of understanding with water supplying companies to install water clock for residents in Vinh Loc A Commune as well as presented 40 water-fillers to dwellers in communes Vinh Loc A and Vinh Loc B.
Furthermore, the committee gave composite biogas of poultry waste to locals in suburban districts Cu Chi, Hoc Mon and Binh Chanh and provided loans for residents who want to build poultry waste biogas.
