VLF holds ceremony to mark Vietnamese Lawyers’ Day

The Vietnam Lawyers Federation (VLF) October 16 held a ceremony in Hanoi to mark the 68th anniversary Vietnamese Lawyers’ Day.

At the ceremony with the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, VLF announced Vietnamese Prime Minister’s decision to take October 10 as the Day of Vietnamese Lawyers.

Speaking at the event, PM Dung said that during 68 years of development, lawyers in the country uphold their legal professional ethics and conducts to contribute to building up institutions, regulations, administrative formalities and taking part in practical activities to protect the national sovereignty.

PM Dung noted that in the context of modernization and industrialization, lawyers will have advantages as well as challenges that requires a lawyer should practice more their own skills and responsibility. A lawyer accompanies with enterprises to protect firms’ legal rights in the line with present regulations.

At present, the country is home to more than 8,000 lawyers of 63 lawyers associations who have effectively taken part in protecting legitimate rights and interests of the citizens over 100,000 civil court cases, criminal cases, economic cases and provide 26,000 free of charge consultations to people.
